How can we help?

Health & Lifecare

We care about your Health. And your Life.

A few years ago, we launched Health and Lifecare Assistance, our 3rd business line. It has grown ever since its creation. Healthcare Assistance focuses specifically on your health. It offers more specialised services that provide information, comfort, support and coordination. Lifecare Assistance focuses on your daily well-being - meeting your personal needs at home or work.

Dynamic times for a healthy sector

Around the world populations are getting older and becoming increasingly dependent. This global trend will fuel our future growth in the health sector. As in previous years, we continue to focus on “dependency” and on our world’s ageing population. If you are an elderly person, chances are you want to stay in your home for as long as possible. If you are a supporting family member, chances are you are looking for a solution that makes financial and logistical sense. And you want your relative to be safe and comfortable in their home.

We are also tuned in to a younger population with entirely different needs. In fact, our Impatriate Services also enjoy steady growth. This is especially true in Australia where we are market leader, mostly due to our partnering activities with local universities and schools.

Partnerships

Partnership with major bank enhances Lifecare
We have built a strategic partnership in France with one of the country’s largest banks to enhance Lifecare services for its customers and networks. As a joint venture, we have created a range of dedicated Lifecare services for people of all ages to help make their lives simpler, safer and more secure.
Our global partnership with one of France’s leading telecom companies now enables tele-assistance via your cell phone. Cell phones are equipped with a “panic button”. By pressing it, customers come into immediate contact with one of our emergency centers. Our center assesses the situation and organizes appropriate assistance.

In collaboration with a leading French Medical University, we have developed two Alzheimer programs. The first helps increase disease awareness and literacy. Designed for insurer’s customers between 55 and 65 years old, it helps them adopt and respect lifestyle attitudes that will optimize brain ageing.

The second program, for 65-75 year olds, is in the form of a special kit to measure the risk of Alzheimer’s. The customer’s own doctor, who first is trained by one of our professional nurses, administers the test. A positive result does not mean you suffer from Alzheimer’s. It simply indicates that you need to follow it up with early treatment should the disease appear. Early treatment can give you an extra 18-24 months of normal functioning.

In 2008 we signed a European agreement with a 120 year-old world leader in healthcare, a household name in most parts of the world. Our joint program provides assistance to those of you with severe psoriasis. After you contact one of our platforms, our healthcare professional receives a contact report. With this, he/she can fully coordinate follow-up actions for this healthcare company’s innovative treatment. The program is to help professionals monitor, educate and assist you in using the treatment properly.

Our Offer in a nutshell. We have the right care for everyone

Dependency

Dependency

These are short or long-term services to help you recover if you are temporarily dependent, or stay at home if you are permanently so. These services are mostly for those with serious health issues and dependent seniors. But we’re also thinking about your supporting relatives and have assistance for them too!

Dependency programs are aimed at adults depending on other adults in their daily life, namely elderly people. Dependency programs may provide medical support (including telemedicine, delivery of medical equipment), housing assistance (meal delivery and others), based on preliminary evaluation of the patient’s general situation. The main objective of dependency programs is to help maintain elderly people at home as long as possible, providing for a large range of services to ensure a secure home-stay.

Personal Response Services: Home Monitoring, teleassistance and telemedicine

We know how important it is to be able to reach someone immediately when you’re not feeling well. So we offer state-of-the-art technological devices that monitor your home and facilitate communication, location and triggering alarms. These services range from tele-assistance to tele-medecine. What you must know is that even if you feel vulnerable, we’re watching over and caring for you 24/7.

Home monitoring is aimed at patients who need a constant medical control over a long time while staying at home. Home monitoring is based on the provision of a technical device, installed at the patient’s place, that enables a contact with an H24 alarm. This service, and the use of the medical device, can also be associated with care services for an optimised patient support. It can be proposed for long term monitoring (related to old people support) or, after hospitalisation, for a follow-up of acute illnesses or consequences of an accident (to monitor the vital medical data until the patient is out of risk). The main objective of home monitoring is to ensure the patient’s security and well-being at his home, avoiding long-term hospitalisation if not medically necessary.

Expatriates, Impatriates and Depatriates

We provide semi-permanent or long-term medical assistance and travel insurance for students and employees because we know that the unexpected can happen anywhere. We offer Impatriate coverage in your destination country, mostly as a condition for granting a visa.

Those programs are aimed at people travelling for business or study purpose and for a limited stay or a longer period (not as tourists) and who will need to use the local medical system, with a potential link to usual international services (repatriation especially). Expatriate: subscribed in the country of usual residence before leaving, Impatriate program: proposed in the country of destination (condition for a visa or others), Depatriate: organisation of medical services abroad for people who live in countries with poor or insufficient medical structures. Those programs provide medical referrals with a guarantee of quality and cost-efficiency, management of the claims (payments, reimbursements) and support for any health matters.

Disease Management and Patient Support (for Pharmaceutical companies)

Disease Management and Patient Support (for Pharmaceutical companies)

If you suffer from a chronic disease, an impairment or an abnormal functioning, then you may fully benefit from these assistance services. They also target consumers of prescription drugs. For the best results, we require active participation on your part.

Disease management is aimed at patients with a chronic disease (diabetes, asthma, heart failure, cancer, etc.). Disease management provides treatment monitoring and support of patients with defined, cost-intensive illnesses, with active participation of the patient themselves. The main objective of disease management programs is to monitor the patient’s needs related to this disease (medical and care services) in order to improve his lifestyle and health condition as well as supporting him for any preventive action (i.e. ensure well-being and avoid hospitalisation).

Rehabilitation management

Rehabilitation is aimed at people severely injured in an accident and who need support for reorganisation of their environment according to their new medical situation so as to get back to normal life. Rehabilitation programs provide four main types of services: coordination of medical help, care management, coordination of home reconstruction and provision of any other medical necessity and professional rehabilitation. The main objective of rehabilitation programs is to support people to find their way through a very intricate medical and administrative situation and to ensure a rational use of the services covered by the insurance indemnities.

Prevention

Prevention

Main focus of the prevention programs - proposed in addition to government actions - can be following populations: elderly people, pregnant women or families with young children, employees (program included in employees’ benefits). Prevention actions will identify the main risk factors - generally related to identified populations - and provide for personalised information and support to prevent from disease, injury and disability. The main objective of prevention is to educate the targeted groups about the risks related to their situation in order to avoid the occurrence of those risks.

Medical information lines

Medical information lines

Medical information line is aimed at people needing a general medical information and recommendation according to their situation, given by doctors or nurses but not including diagnosis. Medical information lines can help orienting the patient according to his actual needs, will serve as a liaison service between the patient and the provider (accuracy of the consultation, cost-effective network) and be a support for the patient to find his way through the medical and funding system. The main objective of medical information lines is to give the accurate medical information (more personalised service than a simple access to an internet information site) while avoiding unjustified consultation, hospitalisation or self-medication.
